The Life and Times of A Prefect

Prefects are always associated with rules and discipline.We,prefects are students who have been chosen by teachers to make sure that students obey the school rules.Prefects are students who exude leadership qualities.

People have different ideas about prefect.Most people,I dare say will think of prefects as show-off at school with their blue uniform and the prefect’s tag.However,we have been misunderstood.Prefects don’t like to show off.

Being a prefect is not an easy job.It comes with a responsibility and it is a big responsibility that we have to carry.We are next in line to teachers and school administration to ensure that the students follow the school regulations.Most people won’t realise this but when you take up the post of a prefect,you are bind to an invisible contract which is you won’t or can’t have as much friends as you want to.You see,there is a fine line between the school prefects and students.Prefects can’t be too close to students as this will result in us having difficulties while performing our duties.Prefects must act without fear and favour against those who refuse to follow the school rules.There will definitely be a time when these wrong doers are our close or best friends.

Prefects are usually torn between socialising and being committed to our job.There are always sacrifices in life and as a prefect,committent to our job is more important than socialising.Not all the prefects are committed to their job though.Some of them would rather leave their job behind and go have fun with their friends.However,it doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to have any friends once you are a prefect.You need to be able to set a limit and do not cross it.

Prefects are more often being critisized by teacher that they do being complemented.We are constantly being scrutinize by the teachers and students.If one prefect did something wrong,the whole prefect’s board will be critisized.It’s kinda unfair if you ask me.However,we must always keep an open mind.

It’s not an easy job being a prefect but the experience you gain and the things you learned is worth all your hardwork.
